One of our favorite westerns, The Magnificent Seven, is getting the Hollywood remake treatment, courtesy of one of our favorite filmmakers — Antoine Fuqua (The Equalizer, Training Day).
The fact that The Magnificent Seven will also serve as his latest film with his frequent star, Denzel Washington, only heightens our anticipation for this flick that is landing in theaters September 23.
Sony Pictures and MGM have unveiled the first four photos from the film that not only features our initial gander at Washington, but also Jurassic World star Chris Pratt. The film also stars Fuqua’s Training Day star Ethan Hawke, Vincent D’Onofrio, Byung-Hun Lee, Martin Sensmeier and Manuel Garcia-Rulfo.
The film is a remake of the 1960 classic, which was also a remake… of Akira Kurosawa’s 1954’s iconic flick, Seven Samurai.
The story follows a group of seven mercenaries who are in a town trying to defend it as a group of marauders descend on it. Although there is a lot of money on the line, they soon realize there is a lot more to fight for than cash.
