Hollywood’s fascination with sharks and our inability to “just get along” with them continues as the teaser for The Shallows has arrived from Sony Pictures. Blake Lively stars as a woman who is surfing alone in the solace of the Pacific Ocean when she is attacked by a great white shark.
As you can see from the below trailer, she takes solace on a stretch of rocks that is the only thing that keeps her from the shallow ocean below… and that white-toothed monster seeking to make her lunch.
The thriller lands on June 24 and could be the latest film to land in the warmer months that makes audiences a little hesitant to get into the water (of course Jaws was the first).
Lively plays Nancy, and although she is only 200 yards from land, it appears that getting there will be the fight of her life. Surely she cannot out swim the enormous ocean killer. But maybe, just maybe, she can outsmart the hungry beast.
A man who knows a little thing about building suspense is at the helm, Jaume Collet-Serra (Run All Night, Non Stop).
