The Movie Mensch has long been a huge appreciator of Tim Burton and his filmography. When the news arose that his next project would be tackling one of those beloved books that no one thought could ever become a film, we could not have been more thrilled.
Fox has released the first trailer for Burton’s Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children. The beloved book by Ransom Riggs landed in 2011 (which would followed by the 2014 novel Hallow City, the second in a planned trilogy) and became an instant classic.
The story follows Jake (Asa Butterfield), who finds himself in a whole new world where children are encouraged to fulfill their destiny with their special abilities. Soon Jake will discover that he too has a purpose beyond what he ever thought. The titular home is a place for these children, who are special to say the least. But, danger lurks around the corner and it will be up to Jake to find a way to protect this special place.
Butterfield is joined in the all-star cast by Eva Green, Chris O’Dowd, Allison Janney, Rupert Everett, Ella Purnell, Terence Stamp, Judi Dench and Samuel L. Jackson.
Interesting to note that the book was adapted by screenwriter Jane Goldman, who gave us X-Men: First Class and Kingsman: The Secret Service).
Prepare for Burton’s latest magical movie when Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children premieres September 30.
