Sony Pictures has released the first trailer for their highly anticipated “don’t call it a sequel,” Paul Feig directed, Ghostbusters.
Ghostbusters 2016 stars Kristen Wiig and Melissa McCarthy as a couple of scientists, Erin Gilbert and Abby Yates, who are the best at what they do. They are deeply infatuated with the paranormal and as the ghosts of the undead world start to rear their head again, 30 years after haunting New York City in the original, the team up with a nuclear engineer named Jillian Holtzmann (Kate McKinnon) and a character named Patty Tolan (Leslie Jones) who appears to be the woman on the streets character that mirrors what Ernie Hudson did in the first film.
See, the movie is a reboot, as it picks up 30 years after the original, but is in entirely new hands – i.e. the female scientists – so therefore, it is a reboot.
As you can tell from the above teaser, the film will features various incarnations of those famous notes that were sang by Ray Parker, Jr. in the first film’s iconic theme. Also present is the Ecto 1, a converted hearse that will serve as the Ghostmobile.
Ghostbusters also stars Chris Hemsworth, Andy Garcia, Michael Kenneth Williams, Matt Walsh, Charles Dance, and Cecily Strong. Look for the ladies who “ain’t afraid of no ghost” to entertain us on July 15.
