The first trailer for Dimension Films and Blumhouse Productions’ Amityville: The Awakening has landed. Besides showing off that teen sensation Bella Thorne is the star, and Jennifer Jason Leigh (The Hateful Eight) stars as her mother, the teaser lets us in on how the haunted house with haunt another family once again with horrifying results.
The franchise that first rocked our world in the 1970 gets a new shot of life with a truly different twist. The April 1 release finds Belle (Thorne) and her family moving into the house that saw a grislily mass murder in the 1970s. Sure, that is a little scary, but not enough to scare off the family who needs to house to be near a highly respected medical institution for the treatment of the family’s oldest son.
The Amityville Horror remake, starring Deadpool breakout Ryan Reynolds, landed on screens in 2005. The original, based on Jay Anson’s novel, shocked audiences in 1979.
Given that this reboot comes from one of our favorite productions houses in town, Blumhouse, prepare for some serious scares this spring.
