Star Wars Episode VIII Starts Shooting: Luke Takes His Lightsaber!

After becoming the highest grossing film in U.S. history, Star Wars: The Force Awakens’ follow-up is all fans of the iconic series have been talking about. We have fantastic news, Star Wars fans. Star Wars: Episode VIII has started production – with writer-director Rian Johnson at the helm. Walt Disney and Lucasfilm has even released the first shot… and it picks up right where Star Wars: The Force Awakens left off.

Disney and Lucasfilm has released Johnson shooting a scene that must have been actually done as Episode VII director J.J. Abrams was completing his work. The reason we say that is because principal photography has begun on Pinewood Studios lot in London and clearly the video below is not in the heart of the British capital!

Star Wars: Episode VIII welcomes back The Force Awakens cast members Mark Hamill, Carrie Fisher, Adam Driver, Daisy Ridley, John Boyega, Oscar Isaac, Lupita Nyong’o, Domhnall Gleeson, Anthony Daniels, Gwendoline Christie, and Andy Serkis.  Adding to the mix is Oscar winner Benicio Del Toro, Oscar nominee Laura Dern, and newbie Kelly Marie Tran.

Look for the next Star Wars chapter on December 15, 2017.
