Disney’s first true princess hit the silver screen in 1937 and did more than bring a classic Grimm Fairy Tale to life. It introduced global audiences to the magic and wizardry of Walt Disney and his beyond talented animation team. The film would become one of the first full length animated movie smash hits and has redefined the movie industry to this day.

The Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs Blu-Ray is a fantastic addition to any collection, especially if you are a fan of the Mouse House, animation movies, or film in general as a medium!

The story of how the kind Snow White meets the Seven Dwarfs and wins over their hearts – and the audience in the process – and finds that love is the true solution to the wrath that the wicked Queen extols.

The American Film Institute called Snow White the “greatest animated film of all-time,” and it’s easy to see why when taking in the classic again (and again and again). For those who adore the film, the bonus features are a treasure trove of delights, which each topping the last.

In Walt’s Words: Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs is a gift from the movie Gods. On this bonus feature, we hear for the first time ever, Disney talking about Snow White. It’s easy to see why the film and the character had such a hold on the icon’s heart. Not only did he put his reputation and his entire studio on the line hoping that Snow White would resonate with audiences, but he put his heart and soul into the project as well. Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs in many ways defines Walt Disney, who he is as a person, as a company founder/leader and defines what his company is all about.

@DisneyAnimation: Designing Disney’s First Princess is a delightful feature that works on two levels. It shows current Disney animators talking about the actual design of Snow White and how it served as a living and breathing inspiration for what they each are doing today. There are legions of animators and creative types who were inspired by Snow White, and this bonus feature also serves as a tribute to Walt’s visionary imagination that it has stood the test of time. Seeing exactly how the character design of Snow White helped mold many of our favorite modern day animated Disney characters makes this a truly powerful featurette.

We also have to spotlight two features that The Movie Mensch believes go hand-in-hand. The Fairest Facts of Them All: 7 Facts You May Now Know About Snow White and Snow White in Seventy Seconds.

The first features Disney Channel star Sofia Carson dishing up, you guessed it, seven facts about the classic film that we would bet even die-hard fans were not aware of. The latter allows a little audience participation as the viewer can “rap” along in a 70-second music video that reimagines the classic story.

Think Snow White influenced animators only? In Iconography, you get a front row seat into how the legendary and timeless film has influenced the far reaches of pop culture, art and fashion.

For those who think they have seen it all when it comes to Snow White, think again. Finally, the most must-see of all the must-see bonus features is Alternate Sequence: The Prince Meets Snow White. Yup, it’s a never-before-released storyboard sequence where the Snow White meets her Prince for the first time. It, like the entire Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs package, is mesmerizing to say the least.
