J.J. Abrams is no stranger to keeping a cinematic secret. His veil of silence on the Star Wars: The Force Awakens set was not just because Lucasfilm and Disney didn’t want secrets to get out. Abrams has always been that way. I remember when he filmed Super 8, no one knew what the movie was truly about until it arrived.
Abrams has taken that shroud of secrecy and upped the ante with his latest. His film Cloverfield was a cult hit several years back and it seems he went off and produced a “blood relative” of a sequel to it without anyone even knowing. Suddenly, before 13 Hours: The Secret Soldiers of Benghazi screenings this weekend, this trailer for 10 Cloverfield Lane appeared.
Abrams certainly got some talented performers to anchor his secret movie, with 10 Cloverfield Lane starring John Goodman and Mary Elizabeth Winstead.
The film also stars John Gallagher Jr. and opens in theaters March 11.
