One of the reasons that Kingsman: The Secret Service was such a surprise hit, we believe, was the casting of Taron Egerton. The British actor is back in the most English of stories, teased here with the debut of the Eddie the Eagle trailer.
Eddie “The Eagle” Edwards was always told he couldn’t do something from an early age. Yet, there was something he wanted more than anything and that was to represent his country in the Olympics. Finally, he settled on ski jumping, a sport that Britain hadn’t had a competitor participate in in many, many years. He found a trainer in Chuck Berehorn (Hugh Jackman, soon to be seen in X-Men: Apocalypse) and the two would join forces and take Edwards all the way to the 1988 Calgary Olympics.
Edwards had no funding. He had farsightedness that made him virtually blind during the ski jumps. Yet, when all was said and done, he would become a national hero for his spirit and never-quit mentality.
