Gerard Butler has had many successes in his career, what with Olympus Has Fallen being such a huge success that it warranted a London Has Fallen sequel. But, no one can deny that he will forever be known for his breakout role in the sword and sandals epic 300. He’s gone back to that genre for his latest, and the trailer for Gods of Egypt has premiered.
The film is based on the classic mythology of Egypt and follows the effort to keep humankind alive against their greatest foe. Specifically, it chronicles a mortal named Bek (Brenton Thwaites) who undertakes this massive save-the-world effort all in the name of saving his love.
He’ll need some help along the way.
That arrives in the form of Butler’s god of darkness Set. They’ll both need to find some common ground if humanity will survive.
Gods of Egypt also stars Chadwick Boseman, Courtney Eaton, Geoffrey Rush and Elodie Yung. Look for the film from director Alex Proyas on February 26, 2016.
