Chris Hemsworth and director Ron Howard made engines purr the last time they worked together with the astounding piece of filmmaking that was the true story, Rush. The dynamic duo have re-teamed and this time it’s on a period piece, yet still a true story, the tale that inspired Moby Dick, In the Heart of the Sea.
Hemsworth stars as the leader of a New England whaling ship Essex, who heads out in the winter of 1820 to do what whaling ships do… find whales. Whey they found was so much more than they bargained for… a beast so large, it would change the lives of everyone on board.
The maritime disaster would inspire Herman Melville to pen Moby Dick, a story that is considered one of the best novels of all-time. We can’t wait to see what Howard and Hemsworth do with the haunting true life tale.
Hemsworth is joined in the cast by Benjamin Walker, Cillian Murphy, Ben Wishaw (soon to be seen in Spectre), Tom Holland, Brendan Gleeson and Jordi Molla.
Look for In the Heart of the Sea in theaters December 11.
