Fox has released our first look at the highly anticipated film Assassin’s Creed. As soon as superstar and widely talented actor Michael Fassbender was cast as Callum Lynch, millions of fans of the blockbuster video game wanted to see the X-Men star in the getup that has become synonomous with the Lynch character. Now, those millions have their first gander.
The wildly popular video game is hitting the big screen in a live action film that follows Lynch, a modern day man who has unlocked his genetic memories and allows him to relive the experiences of his ancestor, Aguilar, in 15th Century Spain. Aguilar is a member of a secret society, the Assassins, and that allows him to build the skills necessary to become an elite assassin in his real-life world.
Good thing, he’ll need those abilities to battle the powerful Templar organization.
Assassin’s Creed also stars Oscar winner Marion Cotillard and is directed by Justin Kurzel (who directed Fassbender in the upcoming Macbeth).
Principal photography begins on Monday for the film that will shoot across Malta, Spain and London. Look for it in theaters December 21, 2016.
