Inside Out Finally Overtakes Jurassic World

Jurassic World has won the box office again — wait, scratch that! In fact, a last second correction has found that Pixar’s Inside Out has topped the dino-thriller, preventing it from winning the box office for the fourth consecutive weekend. However, the thriller has surpassed Avengers: Age of Ultron for fifth on the all-time worldwide box office gross list with $1.5 billion.

The Chris Pratt-starring fourth Jurassic Park flick has now officially come in second for the July 4 holiday weekend, getting bested by Pixar’s Inside Out. Jurassic World made $29.2 million, while Inside Out took in $29.8 million. In terms of domestic totals, after the holiday frame, Jurassic World is now up to $558.2 million and Inside Out is going strong with $246.1 million.

By winning the weekend, Inside Out avoided becoming the first Pixar movie to not nab the number one spot!

Third place belonged to the first of the two new films to hit theaters this weekend, Terminator: Genisys. Its debut box office was a slight disappointment as it made less than the last Terminator film, Terminator: Salvation, with $28.7 million.

Coming in fourth was the male stripper sequel, Magic Mike XXL. It made $12 million in its debut weekend. And closing out the top five was Ted 2 with $11 million.
