We knew that the sequel to Guardians of the Galaxy would arrive May 5, 2017 and it would again feature James Gunn as writer-director. Both pieces of news are fantastic, but a full-on title would be even better.
Gunn took to his Facebook page and let the cat out of the bag, that had honestly already been let out of the bag by the big man in charge of Marvel, CEO Kevin Feige.
“Yes, the official title of the sequel to Guardians of the Galaxy is Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2,” Gunn said.
“Kevin Feige recently let the title slip while doing Ant-Man press, which I’m really happy about because God knows I’ve let more than one thing slip accidentally while chattering away on this FB page. Also, hats off to some intrepid fans who figured out the title a couple of days after I posted the cover page. More than one person guessed Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 — I wanted so badly to give you props at the time, but knew I had to wait.”
The Volume 2 part of things has to hark back to the soundtrack that Pratt discovered was from his mother to follow up that killer soundtrack (Volume 1) that he had been listening to for decades while roaming the galaxy in search of adventure.
Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 will bring back Zoe Saldana, Chris Pratt, Dave Bautista, Bradley Cooper, Vin Diesel and more!
